Susan Benton Meier

My father started Little Fork Ranch in 2007, and we rebranded as Benton Bison Ranch in 2010. Since then, we have raised 100% grass-fed bison in the Bitterroot Valley. We have primarily been a breeding operation, selling our calves each year.

We are now in the process of growing our operation to include meat sales. We are family-owned and operated, and I’m learning as much as possible. I love being part of the Montana Bison Association. Over the years, it has given me new friends and an incredible wealth of knowledge as I navigate this industry.

I moved to Montana full-time in 2018 to take a more active role on the ranch. I have come to love everything about raising Bison. They are incredible animals, and I feel privileged to raise them.

I’m also a part-owner of a fishing lodge in southeast Alaska. We have been in business for 30 years. Tanaku Lodge has been my focus in the summer months, as we are family-owned and operated. I really enjoy merging my hospitality background with the ranching world.

I’m excited about my role as MBA secretary. I’m looking forward to helping support our new and old members with engaging association meetings that inform and bring us together to support and learn from one another.
